Meet the Moonchild
Hi, I'm Ellie!
I'm an archetypal tarot reader based in California, offering reflective readings for those seeking clarity, insight, and self-understanding.
Rediscovering the tarot at a time in my life where I was disconnected from myself and my purpose really helped set me on a path of self-discovery and growth. So over four years and 500 decks later, I'm still learning and growing alongside my clients!

A little more about the Moonchild
Outside of working with the cards, I am a web developer by trade, so I love to design and build websites (including this one!). I drink far too much coffee, read horror books before bedtime, take lots of naps, and have a deep love for the band Sleep Token. Like, "I'm working on tarot spreads inspired by some of their songs because they touch on archetypal themes and I am fascinated by the themes and emotions Vessel is exploring and processing in this narrative" kind of deep love.😅
I love exploring tarot decks, symbolic art, astrology, mythology, and archetypal storytelling. I'm an INFJ, a Manifesting Generator, a Cancer Sun with a Gemini Moon and Rising - along with a chart rich in cardinal water energy. So I've got tons of ideas and not a whole lot of time to do it all!
The Moonchild nickname comes from both my lifelong love of the moon and my childhood admiration for the fabulous Walter Mercado, who often affectionately referred to those born under the sign of Cancer as "Moonchildren." His gentle guidance and his signature closing phrase, "Y que reciban de mí paz, mucha paz, pero sobre todo... ¡mucho, mucho amor!" has stayed with me ever since, and I hope to bring that same spirit of warmth, compassion, and encouragement into my work as a tarot reader.
"And may you receive from me peace, much peace, but above all... lots and lots of love!" - Walter Mercado
Why the Archetypal Tarot path?
Gentle guide, not oracle.
The more I studied tarot, the more I found myself drawn to the symbolic language of archetypes. I became less interested in predicting what might happen next and more fascinated by the stories, patterns, and recurring themes reflected through the cards.
One of the ideas that especially resonates with me comes from Carl Jung, who described archetypes as universal patterns that appear throughout myths, stories, dreams, and human experience. Whether we recognize them or not, these patterns often shape the roles we step into, the challenges we face, and the ways we make meaning of our lives.
For me, tarot offers a symbolic language for exploring those patterns. The cards aren't there to diagnose us or tell us who we are. Instead, they invite us to notice recurring themes, relationships, strengths, fears, and possibilities that may already be asking for our attention. They become a mirror - not to reveal some hidden truth about us, but to spark reflection, conversation, and curiosity about what is unfolding within.
Seasonally Aligned Readings
Tarot is a living practice that evolves with the seasons.
I've always been drawn to the quiet wisdom of the changing seasons. Nature reminds us that growth isn't constant - there are times for planting, blooming, harvesting, letting go, and resting. I've found those same rhythms reflected again and again in the stories my clients bring to the cards.
That's what inspired my seasonal offerings. Rather than creating one reading for every situation, I designed custom spreads that honor the symbolic energy of each season and the kinds of questions that naturally arise within it.
While I also offer evergreen readings throughout the year, my seasonal offerings are where my creativity comes most fully alive. Every spread is custom designed, tested, and refined to honor the unique energy of each season.
Lifelong Learning
I'm a forever-curious student of the tarot.
One thing you'll quickly learn about me is that I absolutely love learning. Every new book, course, or conversation deepens the way I understand the cards, and ultimately helps me ask better questions for myself and those I read for.
Tarot is only one doorway into the world of symbols. My interests extend into mythology, archetypal psychology, folklore, astrology, numerology, runes, storytelling, and the many ways human beings create meaning through image and metaphor.
Being the tarot nerd that I am, I earned certification as a Professional Tarot Reader from The Tarot Guild, and pursued deeper studies through the Archetypal Tarot School with Mariana Louis of Persephone's Sister. More than collecting credentials though, I simply enjoy being a lifelong student and I suspect I always will!
Just as the moon reflects the light of the sun, my work reflects the light of your inner wisdom - helping to illuminate the paths before you.
